I have always loved aviation and was given the opportunity to fly a single prop plane during my time in the ATC, being able to do a number of barrel rolls and full loops! I’m now hoping to start my private pilot’s license very soon!
Only one place for me! I completed by under graduation (Part 1), post-graduation (Part 2) and professional examination (Part 3) in Architecture all at Portsmouth University.
I have previously worked at a small practice in Guilford, before becoming fully qualified and moving to a practice in Ascot for two years before coming back closer to home for an opportunity to work at Mitchell Evans.
The most exciting project was a 20,000sqft house in the Wentworth Estate. The house had a sauna room, swimming pool and 8 car garage with turntable in the basement. It even had a party room, which meant the party never had to end!
My younger self would say something like, “some strange alien monument, yet undiscovered, in some distance world light years away!”
The present self would say Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier. The house really was his first vision for the future of modern living and in 1923 summarised the philosophy of modern architecture in a single sentence. ‘a house is a machine to live in’.
It’s just a shame this ‘machine’ had a problem with leaks, a lot of them!
I have been working in the industry for only 7 years and have been qualified as an Architect for 3 years this December. I started working at Mitchell Evans at the start of 2021.
I really wanted to be a pilot when I was younger, but the training was far too much money! Settled for Architecture instead and haven’t looked back!
