Our clients first approached us when they were interested in buying a property in Guildford with the prospect of demolishing the existing dated 1930s house on the site and replacing it with their new forever home.

Early in our initial consultations our planning history research indicated there was an existing consent on the plot for a larger neo Georgian dwelling. This research then enabled our clients to have comfort in terms of the planning process and likelihood of a further consent, to move forward with the purchase.

Our brief was to design a new modern interpretation of an arts and crafts style house which would sit comfortably along the road but be understated, but also have a quality in terms of craftsmanship and architectural aesthetic.

The design had to also considered the lower single storey bungalow on the right hand side with slightly lowered roof lines.

The accommodation consists of 6 bedrooms over two floors of first and second, all with ensuite facilities inclusive of a vaulted principal bedroom suite.

On the ground floor there is a large kitchen, Family room and dining area, separate pantry, utility and boot room, study, TV snug and drawing room which all take account of the wonderful countryside views.

Our role was the full architectural service from inception to completion including project management and interior design.

The completed house was expertly built by KM Grant a local contractor and is complimented by the exquisite gardens and landscaping designed by Claire Merriman Garden design.
