Our clients, who were downsizing to a new property bought a dated 1950s bungalow on the existing residential street and wanted a new build, contemporary dwelling in two storey format to replace the existing bungalow.

Mitchell Evans worked closely with the planners at Guildford Borough Council to ensure the proposal achieved the necessary planning consent in respect of designing a modern interpretation of the Surrey vernacular property in terms of its materiality, the roof gables and proportions to tie it in with the location and street scene.

Internally there is a mixture of double height spaces, galleried landings and picture frameless windows that take account of the views of the adjacent countryside and the rear garden.
Our clients completed the build under a self-build format themselves, retaining us to assist with any technical questions throughout the build phase.
